Modular Planter Boxes Ironbark
In our current tight urban setting outdoor planter boxes are a common necessity if you want to grow plants. To make life easy we have made a modular wooden planter box system that can be scaled to fit any space and also have the option of using it as a wooden bench seat.
Outdoor planter boxes are an ideal way to add substantial more rich soil to a backyard and have raised planter boxes for ease of access. We predominantly use 75mm thick garden sleepers as these have fewer tendencies to bow as the ground swells. Rather than just using screws to hold the wooden planter box together we also add a corner angle iron section and bolt the sleepers in place.
With larger open spaces or where the wooden planter box is a feature you can also consider creating a wide walled planter box by laying garden sleepers on their sides. This works well with 100mm thick sleepers and it also allows the wall to be used as a wooden bench seat. Obviously this method is more expensive as it uses twice as many sleepers.
Our pricing for outdoor planter boxes is based on a per layer price. If the sleepers are laid on edge then each layer is 200mm high. For the chunky wide wall look each layer is 100mm high. If you would like a wooden bench seat then the top layer is always laid flat to give a 200mm wide seat.
The measurements for these outdoor planter boxes are the outside perimeter of the box. Please note that by using 75mm thick wall sleepers your inside measurements will be 150mm less. Other sizes for these raised planter boxes are available by order.
