Picnic tables helped build our business around ten years ago. Today, TK Outdoor Furniture brings that hands-on experience to every table we make, from choosing the timber to shaping the seats and assembling the frame.
If you are looking beyond the cheapest table, you are in the right place. Our focus is quality, lasting construction and practical designs that make gathering outdoors feel easy. Each table is made to order by our team in Australia, not taken from a container of imported furniture.

We were pioneering spotted gum picnic-table designs when this range helped establish TK Tables. That experience still shapes how we build today.
Round settings, square settings and our Signature TK designs ask more of the craftsperson than a simple production-line table. Curved seating, carefully fitted joints and substantial bracing take time and skill. We make room for that work, because the result matters more than the number of tables leaving the workshop.
Our picnic tables are designed and made in-house. You can speak with the people who understand the design, the timber and the way your table will be used.
Natural character. In every design.
All our designs share a natural aesthetic. We design with the timber’s character, not against it, so your picnic table feels at home among trees, gardens and the Australian landscape. It is central to what makes a TK Outdoor Furniture design our own.
Real grain, colour variation and sound, tight knots give each piece its individual character. As our Understanding Natural Timber guide explains, we allow these natural differences to show rather than selecting only for a uniform appearance. Where a design includes live edges, the tree’s own contours add another distinctive detail.
Over time, timber can develop a silver-grey patina, or its rich colour can be maintained with appropriate care and finish. The way it ages depends on your timber, climate and exposure. This is natural beauty with honest expectations, shaped by people who understand the material.

Not every picnic-table design suits every person. Our Compact T setting has connected step-through benches and can be modified for wheelchair accessibility.
Tell us who will use it and what access is needed. We will discuss the layout and required clearances, rather than treating accessibility as a label that automatically fits every site.

The word hardwood alone does not tell you how a picnic table will cope outdoors. Species, natural durability, treatment, exposure, structural grade and construction all matter.
We specialise in Australian timbers and select materials for the job they need to do. Spotted gum offers a substantial native hardwood option. Treated pine offers a different look and material choice, with the treatment selected for the intended use.
We do not treat untreated pine as interchangeable with appropriately treated pine for exposed outdoor use. Likewise, a hardwood such as messmate should not be assumed to offer the same outdoor durability as every other hardwood. Its suitability depends on exposure, protection and the particular application.
We use structurally graded timber and consider the dimensions, supports and joints together. A thick-looking top alone does not tell the whole story. Ask us which species and grade suit your table, and why.

We build for long service, but natural timber is not maintenance-free. How it weathers depends on your climate, exposure and chosen finish. Grain, checking and colour changes are part of timber’s natural character.

What makes a quality picnic table?
Look at the timber’s suitability for outdoor use, its grade and dimensions, the frame and joints, and whether the seating layout works for the people using it. Price alone cannot answer those questions.
Can I choose spotted gum or treated pine?
Our traditional and natural-style range includes spotted gum and treated pine options. Availability varies by design and configuration, so check the product options or ask our team before choosing.
Which tables have easier access?
TK Heritage Round and TK Heritage Square include walk-through access. Compact T also offers step-through seating and can be modified for wheelchair access. We can help you compare the layouts.
Can you customise a picnic table?
Yes. Our tables are made to order. Talk to us about the size, timber and functional requirements, and we will confirm what is practical for the selected design.
